Aim: The aim of the Cross-border Dialogues Initiative (CBDI) that has been launched in 2013 is to facilitate finding shared solutions through the cross-border cooperation with the aim to improve regional development and living standards of citizens in the Slovak-Ukrainian borderland. The fourth edition of the CBDI will examine, first, strategic framework for the Slovak-Ukrainian cross-border cooperation, which is co-shaped by the policies on supranational and national level, e.g. further development of the Eastern Partnership and the EU relations with Ukraine, including the intergovernmental Slovak-Ukrainian cooperation; second, current state of affairs in the Slovak-Ukrainian cross-border cooperation, including plans and expectations of its stakeholders on regional and local level; and third, it will scrutinize the management of the Slovak-Ukrainian border, which is crucial for enabling cross-border people-to-people contacts in the borderland, but also it shall eliminate illegal activities on the external border of the EU, including the illegal trade and migration.
