V4 Energy Workshop on the National Energy and Climate Plans

By January 2020 all V4 countries have finalized their National Energy and Climate Plans which contain the official targets related to Energy Efficiency gains, GHG Emission reduction and Renewable Energy Share for 2030. The aim of the workshop was to understand each other’s goals and exchange experiences about the regulatory measures identified.
Besides getting familiar with the regional 2030 climate goals, the workshop has enabled the participants to discuss the main focus areas of the NECPs and the decarbonisation plans of the electricity sectors.
The workshop had focused on the modelling methodology, cost calculations of the 2050 decarbonisation and the challanges related to the NECP planning process.
The meeting ensured a great opportunity for government representatives and academic research institutes to exchange views and experiences about long-term energy policy planning.
Keynote speakers included the representatives of the V4 Ministries responsible for Energy,Andor F. Dávid, Executive Director of the International Visegrad Fund and Péter Kaderják, Minister of State for Energy and Climate Policy from the Ministry for Innovation and Technologies, Hungary.
The sessions were the following:
- Targets, main focus areas and planned measures of the final NECPs
- Decarbonisation of the electricity sector, modelling methodology and challenges
- NECP related tasks in 2020
- Cooperation in energy innovation
- Flexibility of electricity sectors in the V4 region
